Almost 100% of what you donate goes to help the people we support

One of the ways we keep administration costs down is by sourcing donations for services. Until recently we could claim that 100% of all our fundraising and donations go directly to those people whom we are helping however earlier this year we upgraded our website to a plan that costs AUD $240 per year. This remains our only administrative cost. Our bank, St George, kindly waives foreign transactions fees and our website costs were initially donated, as are all the items Virginia brings back from Nepal to raise funds at our dinner. All our Management Committee Members volunteer their services and donate any other expenses. You can make a donation knowing that almost 100% of what you donate will go to help the patients we support….

Read what Kristine, Danielle and Ale did!

A huge thank you to Kristine, Ale and Danielle for making us the beneficiary of your joint 40th birthday parties! $620 was collected in lieu of birthday presents and donated to us just in time for Christmas, which we think is outstandingly generous! Your donations will be used to purchase ongoing medical and physio supplies at the Shelter. Thank you everyone who gave a gift that gives twice!

We can do gift certificates too for Christmas, birthdays, weddings or any other special event!

How you can help

This week ,our founding Trustee, Virginia has had a very busy week attending two fundraising workshops. Keep your eye on our website, Chuffed and Facebook pages for some changes!

She has learned lots of stuff to help us do what we do even better! If there are people out there who can help us in kind, as well as, or instead of, financially, please contact us. We can give you lots of options ranging from grant writing, writing press releases, media, marketing, advertising, fundraising, much needed help with social media and so forth – the sky is the limit!

Bring Christmas to NHEDF – NHEDF’s letter to Santa

Group of patients at NHEDF saying 'Namaste'

Dear Santa,

We are very a small organization working with an Australian organisation called Roads to Rehab Nepal. Between us we work to improve health outcomes for people who have life-changing injuries and cannot access medical care because they are poor.

We are writing this letter to let you know that despite our hard work this year, things often do not go smoothly, and our work remains a challenge. It is sometimes difficult for us to meet all our financial obligations and provide everything our patients need because there are so many patients that depend on us and our funding is very stretched.

NHEDF is writing this letter in the hope that you can send some angels or elves to help! Our rent is a very big commitment so please share this letter with your elves, and ask them to share it with everyone they know because what we need does not come easily – We need our own land where we can build our dream Shelter and a magical way to fund all its ongoing costs….

Everyone at NHEDF has been very good this year and has worked so hard for those that depend on us and we are so grateful for any support. If we cannot have land and a Shelter of our own, as much support as you and your elves can organize for us would be very, very, very much appreciated and we promise to continue all our amazing hard work.

If you or your elves would like to make a donation please do this via our website http://www.roads-to-rehab-nepal.org

Thank you, Santa!

With best regards,

Team NHEDF

Stuck for Christmas presents? We can help!

Stuck for presents with only 18 more sleeps until Christmas! Give a gift that gives twice! In return for a donation we can make you a beautiful gift certificate to wrap up for that person who needs or wants nothing, but you still want to give them something!

Your gift will not end up in a drawer somewhere, but will be used to improve health outcomes for people at NHEDF’s Shelter. Make a donation and don’t forget to send us the person’s name and we will have your certificate in your inbox ready for you to wrap in plenty of time for Christmas!

Don’t do Christmas? We can also do birthday presents, wedding presents  or presents for any other excuse you can think of!

Want to learn Nepalese?

Our founding Trustee Virginia has written this language book which is for sale for $10 on Amazon. If you would like to learn Nepalese without having to read or write the script this is the book for you! It started as a big bunch of notes and was eventually organised into this. Better still, 50% of the proceeds go to the two people over many treks who patiently taught me my vocabulary and three different charities which include the Australian Himalayan Foundation, Classrooms in the Clouds and now Roads to Rehab Nepal as Langtang Valley Health Australia, Virginia’s previous charity no longer exists after everything  this charity supported was destroyed in the earthquake. We welcome all kinds of support not just financial – guess what NHEDF is getting soon….

We welcome all sorts of support not just financial! A huge thank you to the Mission Sewing Group for donating hundreds of woollen beanies featured on the head of this gorgeous model! The first 10kg bag will make their way to Nepal tonight and the remainder next month. Mission Sewing Group made us heaps earlier in the year and our Trustee, Virginia, took them over with her in March. Samrat, NHEDF’s Director gave each patient one, then the remainder went to a local shop who sold them on NHEDF’s behalf and raised $250 and some also went to an ex-patient to help her start a small business. The same will happen this time – Samrat will distribute them according to need. Thank you so much Mission Sewing Group – your generosity is much appreciated and kept many heads nice and warm!
